Tax collection taken shape of national movement: Dr Firdous


Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said it is for the first time in the country’s history that tax collection has taken the shape of a national movement.

In a tweet today, she said the credit for this goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She said it is Imran Khan who has taken the practical step to put the country on the path of self-reliance. This is called patriotism.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said Imran Khan has proved through his action that being a nation we should wage a struggle to steer the country out of current problems.

The special assistant said that the Prime Minister has taken bold decisions keeping in view the national interests.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the budget for Prime Minister Office has been reduced in the new fiscal year as part of austerity drive.

She said an amount of 863 million rupees has been earmarked in 2019-20 budget for expenditures of Prime Minister House as compared to 986 million rupees in the previous budget.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad on Friday evening, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says national unity is need of the hour to overcome challenges faced by the country.

She said Islamic Ideology Council has played a crucial role in highlighting the issues faced by the country and giving proposals for their resolution according to Quran and Sunnah.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said learned Ulema of the Council are positively contributing to stop hateful speeches, statements and literature against other sects and faiths.

She said right of freedom of speech is enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan but this right cannot be exploited for inciting violence. She said the rights of people are equally important.

The Special Assistant said interfaith harmony is the important pillar of Naya Pakistan.
