Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik is a Pakistani cricket player and also a whilom captain of Pakistani cricket team from 2007-2009. This illustrious player was born on 1st February 1982, in Sialkot. He is famous for his eminent playing styles. He is proficient in hitting big shots. His strike rate is 80.4 runs per 100 balls. He can perform a withstanding batting as well.
In 1996, he was selected for U-15 World Cup just because of his bowling. He made his first appearance in One-day International series against West Indies in 1999. He made his first performance in Test series in 2001 against Bangladesh. On 3rd November 2015, he proclaimed that he has taken retirement from Test cricket. The reason was none other than 2019 Cricket World Cup. Malik wanted to pay heed on this extravaganza. He has won almost 150 ODI wickets.
Woefully in 2004, Pakistan Cricket Board imposed a one-year ban on him from international cricket. The reason was deliberately losing a match for Sialkot Stallions against Karachi Zebra just to knock out Lahore Eagles from ABN-AMRO T20 Cup. This ban countermanded after two months.
Malik has been remained as opener in Test and ODI series. In 2006, he performed exceptionally by scoring 148 runs against Sri Lanka. It was proved to be a match-saving event.
Malik has a good cricket brain and after Inzamam-ul-Hq’s resignation he represented Pakistani team. He was given the charge of captain on 19 April, 2007 by Pakistan Cricket Board. Under his supervision, Pakistan won ODI series held in Abu Dhabi by 2-1 against Sri Lanka. Malik scored 89 runs and won three wickets in final match against ‘’India’’. It was a moment of joy for Pakistan to win a match by 31 runs. He remained as a captain for two years.

On 13 September 2018, Malik was declared as the highest run scorer for in T20I for Pakistan. He was mentioned as the first Asian batsman to score 2000 runs T20I and third in the world on 1st July, 2018. In the same year, he was also announced as a first male player to play 100 Twenty20 International series all over the world. During Caribbean Premier League 2018, he was reported as world’s fourth batsman to score 8000 runs in T20I. From December 2018-Febraury 2019 Malik took the charge of the team during Pakistan’s visit to South Africa.
He played at Lord’s on 31st May, 2018. In August 2018, he was granted a central contract by Pakistan Cricket Board for 2018-19.
In the first tournament of Pakistan Super League, he became the captain of “Karachi Kings”. Although, he remained the captain for second season as well. He scored 202 runs in 10 innings. In the third season, he was appointed as a captain for “Multan Sultans”. Malik is expected to join ‘’The sixth team’’ of PSL as a captain.
Malik got married to Indian Tennis player Sania Mirza on 12th April, 2010. They were blessed with a baby boy “ Izhaan Malik” on 30th October, 2018.
