Shaheen Afridi is just 19 years old Pakistani professional bowler. He is a left-armed fast medium bowler. shaheen is a left-handed batsman also. He was born on 6th April 2000 in Landi Kotal, KPK, Pakistan. He could easily crack the bowling with the speed of 90 mph just in the age of 17. He was also good at big-hitting. He is an all-rounder. He is un-paralleled in bowling, batting and fielding as well. The Pakistan Cricket Board selected him as one of the thirty-three players who were awarded with the central contract for the 2018-19 season.
He is associated with Zakhakhel Afridi tribe of Pashtuns. During his childhood, he was used to play in the Tatara ground of Landi Kotal. His eldest brother’s name is Riaz Afridi. His brother individually played a Test match for Pakistan in 2004. In 2015, Shaheen was put into hard-ball cricket at FATA U-16 trials by his brother. Till that time, he only knew about the tennis-ball cricket style. Triumphantly in November 2015, he was selected for Under-16 tour of Australia. He played enthusiastically and diligently in those matches. He took 4 wickets with 2-1 vanquishments in One day and T20 series.
He became a part of Pakistan Under-19 cricket team in December 2016. He was also opted for 2016 Under-19 Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka. He managed to get 3 wickets for 27 runs. In the opening match of the U-19 Asia Cup, Pakistan won by nine wickets against Singapore.
He ratified with Dhaka Dynamites for a two-year contract in September 2017. It’s a prime Bangladesh Premier League’s franchise. On 26th September 2017, he made his exceptional commencement in 2017-18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He played for Khan Research Laboratories. Shaheen performed outstanding by winning 8 wickets for 39 runs in the second innings of the match. Hence, he became the best bowler of Pakistan who performed extraordinary in his first debut match for domestic tournament.
He was also selected for 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017. He won 12 wickets in that tournament. He became the top-tier wicket-taker for Pakistan in that tournament. He was named as the “Rising Star of the squad” by International Cricket Council after his astounding performance in the tournament.
On 23rd February 2018, he made his first appearance in 2018 Pakistan Super League Twenty20 series. He played for “Lahore Qalanders”. Although, Lahore Qalanders never performed exceptionally but this time Lahore Qalanders won a match against Multan Sultans by 6 wickets. He won five wickets for four runs. Shaheen was declared as the “Man of the Match”.
He was also selected for Baluchistan’s team for 2018 Pakistan Cup in April 2018. He was selected for Pakistan’s squad for T20I series in March 2018. He started his T20I carrier for Pakistan by playing against the West Indies on 3rd April 2018. He stepped into One Day International series for 2018 Asia Cup in September 2018. His debut match was against Afghanistan on 21st September 2018. He played his first Test match against New Zealand on 3rd December 2018.
