Three alleged terrorists were arrested during an operation carried out late Wednesday night here in the metropolis’ Bhati Gate area, intelligence agencies’ sources said.
According to the intelligence sources, the three arrested alleged terrorists also include a woman facilitator. All three shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning and as the probe continues, they added.
It is suspected that all three were involved in the May 8 Data Darbar blast that had claimed 10 lives and left at least 25 others wounded, the intelligence sources noted.
Suicide blast outside Data Darbar in Lahore claims 10 lives
Four police officials were among those martyred and scores others injured, according to the authorities, in the suicide attack that had, as per police reports, targetted a van carrying the Elite Force of Punjab Police.
The martyred police officers were identified as Head Constable Shahid Nazir, Head Constable Muhammad Sohail, Head Constable Gulzar Ahmad, and Constable Muhammad Saleem.
Punjab Police Inspector-General Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan had confirmed the attack targetted the police force. A security guard and civilians were also among the deceased.
The top police officer had mentioned that 7 kilogrammes worth of explosives were used in the blast. “The blast took place around 8:45AM outside gate number 2, where the police personnel were deployed for security,” he had said.
